Trip to Toronto & Lainey's is 8 months

What a busy couple of weeks. I can not believe that it is almost February, that Lainey is 8 months and that I have to go back to work in 4 months. I think maternity leave should be at least 5 years. We are back from a great visit with my parents. We had such a great time, it was so relaxing. We even got to visit Melissa and family:) Oh and my mom helped me sleep train Lainey although she got sick and it is all out the window now:( I am hoping when she is better that she gets back into it;) Here are a ton of pictures from our trip.
Lainey meeting George.......I think she liked him because they are the same size.
Lainey loves grandpa, didn't make strange at all. Looks like grandpa is really enjoying Lainey's company.
Lainey doing laundry. She sat in there while I folded all the laundry.
Her new toys from grandma. She loves these wooden stackers.
 Peek-A-Boo
We went swimming for the first time. At first she was not sure but then she loved it.
 Lainey hanging out with grandma.
 Food-face.
She wants to get moving so bad. I think it will be any day now that she starts crawling.
8 month family picture, too bad my face ruined the picture:(
Check out my new swimsuit, don't I look cute, maybe runway cute?
Colins famous line, "No thank you".
 My little man looking adorable

Cousins hanging out. They look so much a like and seem to have similar personalities, they both hate to sleep.

It was great to see everyone and we miss you already:)
As soon as I take a picture I will show you all the beautiful fabric that came when I was away.

Two quilts for two great MEN!!!

I wanted to make a quilt for my grandpa! Although I don't see him often I think about him everyday. I thought it would be nice to make him a quilt to keep him warm on these cold winter days. So I made it and sent it off. I'm glad you like it grandpa and it was really nice talking to you the other day:)))
This is his below.
I love the warm colors, it screams "snuggle me"!
The other quilt was for my dad! My mom thought it would be nice if I made one for him for Christmas, so I did. This one is the pattern from Cherry House. I have never done a quilt in solids before but I love how it turned out. It can almost be a wall hanging. I think I will try doing more quilts with solids.
I also love the way the back turned out, I have always wanted to do a back like this.
Lainey has been using it as a play mat while we are visiting grandma and grandpa.
I have a tone of pictures of our visit and will post more later. The bowles family arrives tomorrow and we are so excited!!!! We are having a great visit here, we are not going to want to leave:(

Getting Ready!

We are packing and getting ready for our trip to Toronto. Being home all week with a sick Lainey has left me tons of time to do laundry. I also got the 2 quilts finished:))) Now I just need to get Lainey better before we fly. Anyone have any ideas of fun stuff I can keep her busy with on the plane?

For those cold days!

Lainey loves her jumperoo she has started really bouncing in it, so much fun!
We are headed to Toronto on saturday to visit with grandma and grandpa!!! So excited, I hope Lainey feel's better by then. She once again has a cold:( Anyways I thought I should make an ergo cover to keep her warm when we go out. I made it with an Amy Butler print from her Love collection. It is insulated with batting and has a soft minky on the interior. I also put a hand cozy for myself and a little pocket that I can but my phone, money or keys in. I am happy with how it turned out. I did it saturday night when Lainey was sleeping so I only had a pillow for reference. There are a few minor changes I would make next time.

Here are some pictures of Lainey in it. We went up to Grouse for brunch and a sleigh ride and she was nice and cozy.
Lainey and Trevor having a stare down. lol New fav picture of mine.
And behold a quilters dream, fabric in the mail. A late christmas present from my sis:) I just love these prints from Anna Marie Horton's collection Folksy Flannel.
Another view! I already know what I am going to do with this, now I just have to find the time.
I have been really busy quilting 2 quilts. They are presents so I can not show any pictures until the 2 special people receive them. I will post pictures in the next couple of weeks.

Bad day, Good day!

I have been wanted some Flea Market Fancy fabric for awhile. It was one of those things that I didn't even know existed until it was out of print. Now that it is out of print everyone sells it for a million dollars......I did however buy someones scraps of etsy and just love them. Ever since I bought them I have been staring and imagining what I am going to do with them. Last night when I was up ALL night with Lainey it came to me. I was up all night with Lainey which led to her needing a ton of cuddles today but when she was napping I got cutting.

This is what I came up with so far. I have an idea what the whole quilt will look like but it might change. Trev thinks I should frame them and we can display them. We currently have no free walls to hang anything so I will keep with my original plan. But I have been thinking for awhile now that I want to make a wall hanging quilt for Lainey's bedroom.

And of course some pics of Lainey.

So grown up in the tub on her own. I know I should be happy but it is kind of sad at the same time.

The end of 2010

Today is the start of a whole new year and I am very excited for it. Although it is going to take a lot to be better than 2010. First of all I can not put into words how blessed I feel to have Lainey in my life. She is the most perfect little person and everyday I wake up just so excited to spend the day with her. Life all around has been pretty perfect this past year. I got to grow a Lainey inside me and then meet her and share everyday with her. I get to stay home and not work (YAH!!!!) and this leads to lots of quilting time. I think I made about 7 quilts, which really is not that many considering the amount of money I have spent on fabric. And I can't forget that Trevor and I got to celebrate our 1 year anniversary!

So here are some pictures of the end of 2010 and the start of 2011!
Lainey cozy in her sweater grandma made.
All ready to go visit great grandma.
Trevor teaching Lainey how to order food at a restaurant.

Up at grouse mountain! So beautiful with all the snow.
 Our view from the restaurant.
This is one of my favourite outfits on Lainey. She is almost out grown it so I need one last photo.
 Last pictures of 2010
Lainey woke up 10 minutes before new years so we got her up and celebrated with her. This was more for us but she seemed to enjoy it. Bonus for me after I put her back down she did a 6 hour stretch, longest ever!!!!!! I also love the way she is looking at Trev about and me below.
"hehe I got out of bed"
Happy New Year Lainey!!! This is her new years outfit.

I hope that all my friends and family also had a very fulfilling 2010 and that 2011 brings you all health and happiness.
